"We live in San Francisco, CA and had a destination wedding on Cumberland Island, GA. For much of the run up to the wedding we were traveling abroad and had to do most of the planning by email. Ron and his team made the process so easy for us - it was extremely easy to communicate with him. He was responsive, flexible, very friendly, very easy to work with and extremely professional. He also set up a great
personalized web portal for us that was really useful - everything from an overview of the event, the ability to view and edit important details about the wedding, a history of our correspondence with him, and access to our contract and invoices.

At the actual wedding events, Ron and his team were outstanding. He arrived several hours early and spent time studying the place and lighting for ideal locations. When it was time for our pictures, he knew exactly what he wanted and where he wanted to shoot - and he moved fast yet effectively so we could quickly return to our guests. His pictures are absolutely fabulous - they speak for themselves. But he was also so friendly and engaging that he became part of the wedding and many of our guests commented on how amazing he was. We cannot recommend him highly enough".

Cumberland Island was the 19th century retreat of Thomas and Lucy Carnegie who, in 1900, built Greyfield for their daughter, Margaret Ricketson. Converted to an inn during 1962 by her daughter, Lucy R. Ferguson, and family - who oversee the daily operation - Greyfield Inn exudes the welcoming atmosphere and charm of a family home. Most famously, when JFK JR. AND CAROLYN BESSETTE wanted an elegant, vibrant, peaceful and private location to wed, they chose the Greyfield Inn on Cumberland Island .

Although many believe that Cumberland Island has the most beautiful undeveloped beaches on the East Coast, a visit to Cumberland is not just a “trip to the beach.” The Island is rich in history, architecture, and natural areas. Where the eastern edge of Cumberland is bounded by the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, the north, west, and south are bounded by rivers, sounds, and marshes. A sunset across the western marsh of Cumberland Island is an unforgettable view. The marshes are very fertile areas of the ecosystem where much of the beginning of the food chain hatch. I was so excited when Shey and Ted contacted me earlier in the year about shooting their wedding. What attracted them to my work was Abby and David's Wedding that Wes and I shot last year. They loved how we incorporated Seattle along with their wedding and engagements photos..

(which happens to be the definition of my tag line.. "destinations. weddings. life").

So needless to say I was excited..

Someone once told me to just photograph what I love to photograph, and clients will find me...

I had only met Ted and Shey on Skype, when they explained that they wanted to hire me to do something with a similar feel to Abby and David's photos for them in their Manhattan neighborhood, Nolita (North of Little Italy).

So.. the assignment was to basically hang out in Nolita for two days and document it.. while there just happen to be an amazing wedding going on with 65 close friends from all over the world!

Possibly my favorite wedding ever...

Some of my images from September 11th, 2001...

My friend Lilly Echeverria, a photojournalist from The Miami Herald called me at about 9 AM on the morning of September 11th from Florida and said that I need to grab my cameras and head to The World Trade Center, that there had been a "small" plane crash. I just grabbed my camera, my 70-200mm lens, and all of the rolls of film that I had and headed out. I lived on 23rd Street at the time, and the trains were not running.. I was able to grab a cab but only make it to about The West Village and then I got out to walk. The first few images were from then, just about the time the first tower fell. It was all completely unbelievable. I made my way over to the west side highway and kept walking south, as everyone was running away... I just kept going. I don't know what it was that kept me heading towards the one standing tower, it was as though my camera made me invincible.. as if I wasn't really there experiencing it. I was just focused on keeping my eye behind the camera and doing what I was trained to do as a photographer and photojournalist. As the second tower fell, I remember a young man who just stopped to sit down and pray. Then there was a policeman walking past me on a walkie-talkie and I remember him saying in disbelief that "The Twin Towers were gone"... that's when it hit me, not when it was actually happening. I just kept going.. walking, shooting, helping people along the way. There were cars catching fire in some of the parking garages and exploding.. It seemed like I was in a war zone, and I guess I was. At that time, I still thought all of this was happening because of the "small" plane crash, and hadn't heard any further updated about it. I didn't really even know how far I'd gotten or where I was when I finished the 11th and last roll of film. I remember seeing a street sign down among all the papers on the ground that said West and Vessy. It wasn't until I got home and looked at a map that I realized that I was actually there at the corner of where the World Trade Center stood. I wonder what would have happened to me if I'd had more film.. would I have keep going? Would I have made it out alive? I spent the next week or so kind of hiding behind my negatives and photos, and to this day I still don't feel like I really processed the whole event. Ironically, along with being a photographer in New York at the time, I was also an airline employee. When commercial flights resumed, the world had changed drastically. I felt like I went from the front lines on the street to the front lines in the air. I hoped to do an exhibit this year with some of my photos from that day, but have decided to do it next year on the 11th anniversary. I feel like I still need time to figure out what it is I want the images to say, and how to present the most important day of my life as a photographer...

We had a great day shooting Kimberly and Matthew's Wedding at The Club Continental in Orange Park on June 18th 2011.

Here is Kimberly's awesome review:

"Ron B. Wilson was probably the best hire I could have possibly made for my whole wedding. I was in love with his work from previous weddings, but I was still nervous because my groom and I can be pretty photo awkward. After my initial phone call with Ron to discuss this, I was 10000% sold. He won't plop in you in some cheesey setting or pose and then say "work with it." He and his associates are practically extensions of each other! Ron's just casually chatting with you and snapping some pictures (he gives REALLY easy, natural instructions) and his associate is somewhere else catching other awesome angles or events. On the big day, he and his team were right on time and got straight to work. His judgement is spectacular, and he was a real delight and gentleman to work with. His associates were also fantastic, they glided around somehow virtually out of sight, yet managed to catch the whole event.

I just got back my "final product" last week, and I was absolutely speechless going through the 1500+ photos. I was tearing up and laughing out loud as I was going through them all -- he captured EVERYTHING! For every single big moment, Ron never failed to catch the "money shot." I never felt more beautiful in my whole life, or could re-live such a joyous occassion in such clarity and detail. Thanks Ron and team!!"

What a great day I had yesterday shooting Ashley and Stephen's wedding in New Jersey at The Inn at Fernbrook Farms. There were heavy passing rain showers throughout the day, but somehow everything cleared up... not once, but twice.. just in time for the portraits and ceremony in around the property!
We all had such a great time, it was such a party!
